The Emerson String Quartet remains the defining ensemble of its generation, lauded globally for its innovative artistry and consistent sense of discovery. With an ever-growing collection of Grammy awards and countless international appearances, the Emersons delight audiences with a youthful exuberance and intellectual curiosity unmatched in the chamber music world.
In their third year as Stony Brook University’s Quartet in Residence, the Emerson String Quartet contributes immeasurably to the University’s excellence with their acclaimed concerts in the Staller Center Recital Hall. Once again, the music-loving public can look forward to a springtime chamber music festival and continuing master classes with University students. If you haven’t heard the Emerson String Quartet in concert, this is the season to do so! In the first of three concerts this season, the Emerson String Quartet’s program will include Mozart D Major Flute Quartet, with guest artist Carol Wincenc, Shostakovich’s 2nd Quartet and Beethoven’s Quartet in C-sharp minor, Op. 131.
