Prague Symphony Orchestra

Main Stage

The Prague Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1934 and a regular feature of the international touring scene, will play Antonin Dvorak’s Carnival Overture, Op. 93 and selections from Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances. The Prague will also supply the orchestration and the background for our two guest artists.

Denyce Graves, Metropolitan Opera star of Carmen and Samson et Dalila is recognized worldwide as one of today’s most exciting vocal artists. Her career has taken her to the world’s greatest opera houses and concert halls and she recently sang at the Presidential inauguration. Her programs often include a mix of classical, gospel, and jazz favorites. Arias from Bizet’s Carmen and Massenet’s Werther are on the program, and a Harold Arlen favorite and traditional gospel are planned.

Navah Perlman, who is known for her lyrical eloquence on the stage, has established herself as one of the most poetic and admired pianists of her generation. She will play Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor, Op. 21 by Chopin. Ms. Perlman has performed to critical acclaim in major concert venues throughout North America including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Toronto Symphony and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Her international appearances have included performances with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic and the New Japan Philharmonic in Suntory Hall.

This is the only performance anywhere of the Prague Symphony with these renowned artists. The program is subject to change.
