Brass quintets are, by their very nature, brilliant to the ear. The American Brass Quintet provides
a performance that is positively dazzling. The critics call them “The High Priests of Brass,”
(Newsweek), and “a tour de force in brass chamber music performance.” Their exceptional
performances feature their own definitive editions of Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces
as well as commissioned works by contemporary composers. The Quintet’s many
credits include Ensemble-in-Residence at The Juilliard School and the Aspen Music
Festival. Founded in 1960, the American Brass Quintet consists of Raymond Mase
and Kevin Cobb, trumpets; David Wakefield, horn; Michael Powell, trombone;
and John D. Rojak, bass trombone.
